Trick

This is the ultimate Halloween manicure because it scared me and I hated it!  A total trick, not a treat.  It lasted a day and I am glad for my pure acetone remover because I really needed it to rid myself of this.  I do still love the colors and the sparkles of this manicure, so it has that going for it.  But it deserves proof of its existence because, who know, someone else might love it.

Extreme Sparkle Close Up:

I painted first two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Midnight in NY.  Then used China Glaze Ick-A-Bod-Y and Orly It's Not Rocket Science with one coat of Seche Vite to finish.

Black Hole

More like "Dark Gray Hole" but that name makes less sense.  I was kind of in the gradient mood, but didn't want to do the traditional straight gradient, so I made it circular.  I like the finished look because it has a lot of depth.

Mega Flash:

I first coated with Ulta Total Eclipse (which is interesting to know that without knowing the polish name before coming up with the idea, it inspired me...).  I then started towards the middle of the nail and sponged a circle with China Glaze Tinselthen I sponged the outer of the circle, concentrating on the top and bottom edge with Orly It's Not Rocket Science.  I did touch up the center to make a more defined black center with the same base color and I finished the look with one coat of Seche Vite.

Two Sides To Every Story

Threads frayed, time to move on.  This manicure is the result of a failed design idea.  When I first looked at the finished result, I thought I hated it.  Then I woke up and looked at it in a new light--daylight, and it started to really grow on me.  The colors in the Orly Cosmic FX collection are so multifaceted, your eyes are always drawn to them because they look different all the time based on lighting and angles.  So out of failure comes something close to fabulous!  I think I finally got decent pictures of these colors and their contrasting reflections.  The last picture is in natural light and after the manicure had seen the whole day, so it's showing some tip wear.

I painted three coats of Galaxy Girl on two-thirds of my nail.  On the other third, starting from the bottom to the top I painted It's Not Rocket Science, Space Cadet, and Lunar Eclipse all from the Cosmic FX collection.  I painted one coat of Seche Vite on top.

Thread Lightly

Today's manicure is simple, but a bit tedious to create.  I bought these Metallic Threads from Sally's and wanted to try them out, but they had to be cut to size, didn't all want to stay down or stay straight.  Either way, I still like the idea and the final look isn't so bad.  This is another one of the colors in Orly's Cosmic FX collection and I think they are so pretty, but incredibly hard to photograph--so the excess pictures this time are less about showing off the design and more about trying to depict the color and sparkle.

I painted three coats of Orly Lunar Eclipse.  I used Seche Vite to adhere the threads and to coat on top to seal them.

Girls Night In

I had a fun girls night in with my mom and sisters last night.  My services were requested and I gladly obliged in doing some nail art on their pretty hands.  Here's what we did as well as my most recent water marble.

Too Rich For My Blood:

Snake Skin:

Sexy Leopard:

Gold Leaf:

Too Rich For My Blood:  Water marble with two coats as a base of China Glaze Classic Camel.  That color and Foxy and Ingrid were used for the marble.  I used one coat of Seche Vite.

Snake Skin: Base color of It's Not Rocket Science.  Snake design was Black It's So Easy Stripe Rite and Konad Plate m57  with White on White for the snake skin.  Finished with one coat Seche Vite.

Sexy Leopard:  Two coats as a base of White On White with two coats Twenty-Four K.  Konad plate m57 was used again and the spots were filled in with Towel Boy Toy.  One coat Seche Vite used to finish look.

Gold Leaf: Three coats Zoya Charla.  Konad plate m65 used with OPI Golden Rules!.  Seche Vite was used to seal the deal.

The Princess and The Pea

I am absolutely in love with this new color from the Orly Cosmic FX collection.  I was almost tempted to just leave it a single color because it didn't need anything extra, but then I thought the gemstone highlight was the perfect touch.  Unfortunately the gemstones only lasted a day, so I replaced them with gold, painted dots (but don't have a pic).   I was able to capture to a pretty decent degree the awesomeness of this polish, so enjoy!

I used It's Not Rocket Science.  Seche Vite was used for the top coat.

*Unfortunately this is a fall release for Orly and they do not have any official links to this collection since it is not technically released yet.  If I remember, I'll try to add links as they become available.

Pretty Pretty!

I had this manicure on last weekend and didn't have the time to post it.  Since I also posted about Orly's Cosmic FX polishes in a mani below, this seemed fitting to add.  I'm doing the best I can to show you how this polish looks different depending on the light (click to enlage, as always).  It was and is very pretty.

I first painted two coats of China Glaze VII and followed with two coats of Space Cadet.  I used Millennium with Konad Plate m60 for the design.  I used on coat of Seche Vite on top.

Oil Slick

I'm on a subtle marbling kick, I guess.  But this time I went in a different direction--hard to miss, bold.  This is by far the hardest manicure I have tried to photograph to date.  Neither of these pictures seem to do the manicure justice, but they were the best of the bunch.  It might be because I used two new colors in the new Orly Cosmic FX collection.  It isn't listed on their website yet since it's a fall collection, but it's out in stores here in the US now.  I found them at Ulta.  Here is a good review of the collection.  Bottom line they are prismatic, glitter/mineral polishes that are multi-tonal and therefore hard to capture on camera. In real life, it really does resemble the iridescence of an oil slick.

I first coated a base color in black, China Glaze Liquid Leather.  Then I used Space Cadet and Galaxy Girl for the marble.  Seche Vite was used for the top coat.
