Red Hot--Take It Off

In preparation for watching Magic Mike tonight (yes, I'm going)  These are also my birthday party manicure nails.  Since I was swimming all day yesterday, I didn't do an official birthday manicure.  But since I knew I was going to a crazy movie tonight to celebrate my birthday, but didn't think wearing stripper-themed nails to work was a very good idea, this was the best I could come up with to pay homage.  So excited!

I taped off the bottom of my nails and added three coats of China Glaze Hey Sailor and glitter from LA Splash Cosmetics in  Hazardous.  I finished the manicure with two coats of Seche Vite.

Neon Polka

Another highlight for my neon colors.  I tried my best to get the colors to work in the photos, but sometimes I think the reflection shot is a more accurate rendering of the neon color.

I painted two coats of Zoya Haorley and added glitter from LA Splash Cosmetics in Rock Star.  I used a dotting tool and first painted the dots in China Glaze White On White for a base for the neons.  I then added China Glaze Surfin' For Boys, Lolita, Sun-Kissed, Sun Worshiper, Towel Boy Toy, In The Lime Light and Shocking Pink.  To finish: one coat of Seche Vite.

Tye Dye

I'm not sure I knew this was going to look like tye-dye, but that's what everyone called it and it certainly fits the finished product.  I only knew I wanted to use my neons and make something bright.  It truly turned out to be one of my favorite manicures of the year so far.  So bright!  So pretty!

I panted a a base two coats of China Glaze Surfin' For Boys.  I then added China Glaze Sun-Kissed, In The Lime Light, and Lolita.  Manicure was finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

Filigree Layers

Sometimes when things don't work out the way you think they will, the end results are almost better.  I was hoping that the pink I initially chose was going to be contrasting enough for this manicure, but it wasn't.  But once I applied the lavender over, the pink popped and it all came together.  Thank goodness for mistakes!

I painted three coats of Zoya Zuza and added image from Bundle Monster plate BM222 with Konad Special Stamping colors Violet and Psyche Pink.  One coat of Seche Vite was my top coat.

Sea Sparkle

Back on the sparkle kick, I was feeling blue as it's the time for swimming.  Love the shimmer of loose glitter in a manicure.

I painted three coats of China Glaze Electric Beat.  I added loose glitter from Esther's Nail Center and other random aqua glitter I had on hand (no lable).  One coat of Seche Vite to finish.

Chevron Outta Here

I wanted to highlight my highlighter yellow.  This manicure certainly did it.  I wasn't thrilled that my lines didn't end up as crisp as I wanted, but this yellow was a bit on the thick side and a bit of a diva.

I first taped off my nails and painted the bottom half with China Glaze Icicle and then added two coats of China Glaze Sun-Kissed.  One coat of Seche Vite was my top coat.

Fun With Tape

I have been doing a bit with tape in my manicures and these two used the same technique, so I'm putting them together in a post.

Fun With Tape Green:

After taping off my nails, I applied three coats of Zoya Ivanka  on my tips.  I added with a brush stripes and dots in China Glaze Sun-Kissed, Surfin' For Boys and Zoya Jolene.  I painted over the entire manicure whit a coat of Finger Paints Motley and two coats of Seche Vite to finish.

Fun With Tape Pink and Orange:

I first taped off the orange side and painted three coats of Zoya Arizona.  Once fully dried I taped off the pink side and added three coats of Zoya Kimber.  I painted one coat of Orly Shining Star and two coats of Seche Vite to finish.

I'm A Star

Stars.  So fun.  And a great compliment to this orange color from OPI that I love.

I painted three coats of OPI A Roll In The Hague.  Using Konad special stamping polish in Yellow, White, Coral Blue and Violet I stamped stars with Bundle Monster plate BM14  I painted one coat of Seche Vite for my sealer.

Blue Splash

Back to the splatter manicure.  I had fun with neon this time (but I'm pretty sure I splattered everything in my path including my shirt).  Oh well, all the sacrifices for nail art!

I painted a base three coats of China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-le.  I then splattered using my splatter contraption with China Glaze In The Lime Light.  One coat of Seche Vite was my top coat.

Satin Flowers

Inspired by a recent four year anniversary, I wanted a way to pay homage to the traditional gift of satin or flowers.  I really loved how this manicure turned out.  It was fun to use several colors on the disc and get a variety of mixes of flower colors.

I painted three coats of Orly Au Champagne and used Konad Special Stamping Polish color in Psyche Pink, Pastel Violet, Apple Green, Yellow, Coral Blue and with Bundle Monster Plate BM224.  I finished the look with a coat of Seche Vite.

Subtle Is My Middle Name

I went through a phase a few weeks back that was all about subtle designs.  In interest of time, I'm grouping these manicures together.

Lavender Lowdown:

Three coats of China Glaze Sweet Hook and a side swipe of Orly Shining Star.  Seche Vite was the top coat.

Hot Flakes:

This manicure is a straight layer job.  I added Finger Paints Asylum over three coats of China Glaze Pink Voltage.  I then added one coat of Seche Vite.

Red Dot:

I painted a base of three coats China Glaze Hey Sailor and dotted the design with China Glaze Riveting, Zoya Sarah and Zoya Allegra.  Seche Vite was the top coat.

Pink and Black Ruffian Moon French

I saw this design for nail stickers/decals and figured it would be easy enough to do myself.  I liked the results.

I painted a base three coats of Zoya Gilda and added, freehand, Zoya Cynthia.  Seche Vite was my top coat.

Studded

Imperfections make perfect.  Even if every glitter hex did not make it in a perfect line, this manicure was really fun to have on.  The glitter really took it's intended page on center stage.

I painted three coats of Orly Rock-It and I used Silver hex glitter from Esther's Nail Center.  Two coats of Seche Vite was the top coat.

Red Orange Mix

Seemingly contrasting, really came together as a nice compliment.  Plus, I love both of these colors, so I knew it could only mean right.  The third picture gives a more true to life idea of the orange color.

I used Zoya Isla and OPI A Roll In The Hague for this look.  Both with three coats.  Seche Vite was my top coat.

Then, I stamped the butterfly design from m36 Konadplate using Astor Quick'n go -no.17 . I finished with a clear top coat. What do you think?

Create stripes using dotting tools

Hi,
Today I'll show you a new technique to make an abstract, striped manicure.
All you need for it is three different-coloured nail polishes and, surprisingly,
a dotting tool. If you don't have the latter, you might as well use a toothpick,
the tip of a bobby pin or a sewing pin.
I started with two coats of Illamasqua -Gamma and then I created thinner and
thicker stripes using Sinful Colors -Amethyst and Astor -Iconic Red.
You don't have to use this colours, any other combination will look good.
Unfortunately I don't have a tutorial for this design, but please watch this Youtube tutorial
that inspired me, too. What do you think?
