Double The Marble, Double The Pleasure!

I'm going out to a birthday party tonight and have had this manicure planned for weeks.  The party got postponed last Saturday due to tons and tons of snow here in Minnesota--which is now half melted, but now it finally gets to see the light.  I am so excited about this manicure and it's result!  It's a double water marble and it's super awesome, true?  I'll admit that water marbling is a lot of work, but the payoff can be very satisfying.  I really do hope to do more tutorials, but the reality is that although I have a live-in filmmaker, he is very busy.  This means I'll have to learn all the lighting, camera usage and video editing info myself and I'm not sure how much energy I have to do that.  But I really should figure it out!  If you haven't checked out my basic water marbling tutorial, you can watch it here.  I am also more than willing to answer any questions via email you might have about tips and techniques.

For the manicure, I first painted two coats of Zoya Sarah on my nail.  I then marbled Sarah and Ulta Black Diamond.  After that marble dried and the water was dry off the nail bed, I marbled with China Glaze OMG (silver holo) and Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Flawless (clear) over the previous marble.  I used one coat of Seche Vite to seal the manicure and add lots of shine!

Creeping Up

'Tis the season...for ghouls, goblins, witches and spiders, that is.  I thought it was time to start doing some Halloween posts since it's just over two weeks away and the themes can be pretty fun.  I picked up some new colors today from Sally Beauty from the China Glaze Awakening collection for the season in preparation.  Also, I wanted to marble since it's been just a little while.  For basic tips on water mabling click here for my tutorial video.  The design I used for this look was found on another polish blog I visit "My Simple Little Pleasures" (she's a fellow MN blogger, which is great) and Colette made a great tutorial video to show you how to do it, which can be seen here.

I first coated with Zoya Sienna and also used that color in the marble with Yasmeen and China Glaze Mummy May I.   To seal the deal, I painted two final coats of Seche Vite.

Green With Envy

That's what I expect you to be with this manicure.  I love it.  It's so rich and fun.  I'm trying to keep marbling on the front burner since I completed this tutorial video.

Colors used: two coats of Ulta Into The Limelight for a base.  Marble colors: Into the Limelight, Black Diamond, It's Not Rocket Science.  I coated twice with Seche Vite.

Water Marbling 101

Several months ago, my live-in, filmmaker husband wanted to test out his new camera.  I suggested he help me film a tutorial video on water marbling.  He lovingly obliged and here is the final product as well as a little pic of the final look.  I filmed some other excerpts of trouble shooting and other design techniques, but as I learned "post production is the longest part of the film making process."  So I can't tell you when you'll get access to those things, but I hope they will be finished.

Colors used were China Glaze White on White for the base coat color.  Marble colors were Zoya Jolene, Charla, Yasmeen.  Seche Vite was used for the top coat.
