Whooo Believes in Ghosts?

I don't think I do, but I've never had the opportunity of a haunting.  I guess maybe time will tell on this one.  But I'd love to hear what you think about ghosts (or the paranormal).  I want to believe in vampires (and ghost vamp is my favorite nail), but unfortunately I am boringly grounded in reality.  I love me some fantasy, but I realize that is just what it is--a fantasy!  Tell me about your "Boo" radar.

The Friendly Ghost (Casper):

The white ghosts are comprised of two coats China Glaze White on White and one coat Ulta Angel Baby (only because my China Glaze was getting goopy--I need a new bottle).  I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Midnight In NY for the black detail.  One coat of Seche Vite was used to keep those ghosts shining.

Gone Batty

I've had a thing for bats since I did a report on them in the third grade; I think they are fantastic.  Plus, living in Minnesota, you have to love all things that can eat their weight in mosquitoes!  And  thanks to bats being the quintessential icon of Halloween, I get to make them the star of a manicure.

For the black base coat color, I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Midnight in NY.  For the orange I first coated with China Glaze Peachy Keen and coated Sun Worshiper on top.  (Sun Worshiper is a very hard neon to work with--very streaky).  For the bats in black, I used Ulta Black Diamond and the bats in orange were first painted in Ulta Angel Baby and then coated in Sun Worshiper and Breakin' for wing shading (and streak cover up).  Seche Vite, one coat, was used to seal the manicure.

Pinkspiration!

It's nice to have friends that when you ask, "What should I do to my nails?", they say "I love this scarf.  You should do it in nail form."  And then there was a manicure where inspiration was previously not there before:

I painted three coats China Glaze Something Sweet and then freehand dotted (with dotting tool) the design and added the tip with Ulta Total Eclipse and contrasted the tip with the same pink as the base.  I used one coat of Seche Vite for a top coat.

Celebration Part Deux

I told you I had a wedding again last weekend and I need to post the pics of my re-designed manicure.  In preparation for the dress remix, I bought some new jewelery (although it was vintage, not new to the world--new to me) and decided to go with the theme of brushed metal.  I'm attaching a picture of the dress I had for inspiration.  I'm retiring it for next weekend, but I do have another wedding to go to...!

The Dress:

For the manicure I first painted three coats of China Glaze Liquid Leather.  Then I sponged on in layers Awaken, Millennium and Frostbite.  I striped clear polish over the center after the other polishes had dried and added the blue glitter.  I sealed that glitter with a top coat so the glitter wouldn't bleed (as much).  I used Essie Matte About You on the lower half below the glitter and added Seche Vite to shine the top half and for a final seal of the glitter.

Shine On!

I was inspired to make something "Shiny" for today's manicure--so here it is:

I used China Glaze Liquid Leather and So Easy Stripe Rite in White for the starbursts.  I put a piece of glitter in the center and used loose glitter for the sparkle stripes on the nails.  I then followed up with two coats of Seche Vite.

Karaoke Magic!

Tonight I am going out with friends to dinner and karaoke. So it was, of course the inspiration for this manicure. I thought it was kind of fortuitous that the pictures turned out a bit blurred, since I imagine our nights at various karaoke bars with a little haze...

Thumbs:

I painted a base coat of color with China Glaze Liquid Leather. TLinkhen I freehanded a microphone and some music notes on my left hand using It's So Easy Stripe Rite colors in Silver Metallic, White and Hot Blue. I polished the musical notes and bars white first with Stripe Rite and then colored that white base for the pink music notes with Orly Passion Fruit and the music bars with a light, iridescent blue from OPI that I no longer have the name to. The disco ball and it's twirling lights was all a combo of Silver Metallic, Gold Metallic, Black, White, Aqua Metallic and Hot Green Stripe Rite polishes. I then made the "karaoke monitor" by writing out "Baby you just got to release me" in white Stripe Rite first and Essie's Perky Purple and Hello Yellow on top. Each nail was coated twice with Seche Vite.

So now that this is done, I will now spend the rest of my day practicing Wilson Phillips for tonight and I'm ready to go!

Follow the Leader

This picture is a bit better at capturing the pink.

This is what popped into my head when I was deciding what to polish tonight.  I really like the finished look on this one (it matched my head design).  This is a freehand design.  I was going to use tape to make more crisp lines, but I would have had to wait too long for the bottom coats to dry, so I decided to freehand the arrows.  The picture, of course, does not do the colors justice.  The contrast is clear in person--jet black and pale pink.  I need to make a light box so I can get better pictures up here, but then I also better taking better care of my cuticles--because they look awful close up.

I used Liquid Leather (black) and Something Sweet (pink) from China Glaze topped with Seche Vite for shine.
